General Jack Keane (General John M. Keane, United States Army, Retired) is Senior Partner at SCP Partners, a private equity firm. He is a Director of MetLife, General Dynamics, MacAndrews & Forbes, and Cyalume Technologies Holdings, Inc. He is an advisor to the Chairman & CEO of URS Corporation. He is also a member of the Secretary of Defense’s Policy Board, the George C. Marshall Foundation, the Council on Foreign Relations, a trustee of the Rand Corporation, Chairman of the Knollwood Foundation, and an advisor to two foundations assisting our veterans: “Welcome Back Veterans” and “American Corporate Partners."
Colonel Derek Harvey brings leadership, expertise, experience, and perspective based on service as a senior intelligence executive, infantry commander, intelligence offiicer, and university research director. He has extensive experience working Middle East policy and intelligence issues, with extensive time working in the region. He also brings his experience and perspective based on his service as a military intelligence professional and a Middle East / North Africa Foreign Area officer. Colonel Harvey is adept at defining goals, tailoring research, analysis, organization structure, and resources to meet evolving requirements. He leverages a personal and professional network enabling access to decision-makers, information, and resources with an ability to ensure results.
Vice Admiral Malcolm I. Fages, USN (retired), is the principal of Fages Consulting, LLC. Prior to forming his company he served as the Director of European Operations for Northrop Grumman Information Technology International, based in London. He culminated his 36 year career with the Navy serving as the Deputy Chairman of the NATO Military Committee in Brussels which advised the North Atlantic Council on military matters affecting the Alliance including NATO enlargement, defense investment, war strategies, and military relations with Russia. As the senior serving U.S. military officer in the Headquarters, he worked closely with the NATO Secretary-General.
Lieutenant General Mike Steele, USA (retired), held command assignments in both operational commands and professional military education institutions during 34-years of active service. Operationally, he commanded every level of Army unit from Platoon to the 82nd Airborne Division and the U.S. Army Pacific. His professional military education assignments included multiple assignments at the Infantry School and at The Command and General Staff College, the largest college in our Armed Forces, where he served as Commanding General/Commandant and Deputy Commandant.
Michael Saunders has 45 years of experience working within the Department of Defense and for major technology contractors supporting the Federal Government. He has led or developed programs and businesses up to $350 million. Mr. Saunders was a Partner and Vice President at Booz Allen Hamilton. He was responsible for systems engineering, integration and analysis services to support major weapon system development within the Department of Defense. In his 20 years at Booz Allen, Mr. Saunders developed the Missile Defense business supporting Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman as well as the Missile Defense Agency and its predecessors.
After his retirement from the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency in 1979, Mr. Arnold served as a consultant to numerous U.S. and international firms on business, political, and economic developments. HIs insights have helped clients assess new opportunities and guided their activities in foreign markets. Mr. Arnold has helped form joint mining ventures in strategic metals in China, advised one of the world's largest marketing firms, and assisted a multinational firm with a capital investment project in Thailand. He also has arranged several joint venture projects in Taiwan, Indonesia, and Korea, and has served as a pro bono consultant to the Royal Thai government.
Fuad J. Kawar is an International Businessman focusing on defense, security, aerospace, and electronics with more than 30 years successful experience in the MENA and the Caucuses. Mr. Kawar’s particular expertise is in the Arab and Muslim World. Fluent in both Arabic and English, he enjoys generations-long family ties to the business community throughout the Middle East. Mr. Kawar provides strategic consulting services through extensive network worldwide, offering clients the following services: Wide range of market entry and project evaluation; Identifying regularly overseas business opportunities; Providing access to key individuals; Providing market research and risk analysis; Advise on contract negotiations; Developing representation/distribution agreements.
D. Sykes Wilford, Ph.D. holds the W. Frank Hipp Distinguished Chair in Business at The Citadel. He brings a depth of experience to Safe Ports in institutional risk management, asset allocation, and private equity. Sykes is also currently associated with Ashley River Capital and Bayesian Edge, and he is a frequent speaker for the CFA Institute. Sykes is former Chairman of the Advisory Board of Beauchamp Financial Technology (2002-2005) and was a founding partner of Hamilton Investment Partners (2003-2007).
